Material Content Certification

The Material Content Environmental Certification Program applies to any material used in a product whose manufacturer is making an environmental claim about the content or type of material. The program allows the claim to be quantified and verified for purposes of making a percentage-based claim. This includes, as examples, materials that can be classified as post-consumer, pre-consumer, salvaged, silvicultural, agricultural waste, organic fiber, bio-based, or rapidly renewable materials.

SCS has recently published an updated Material Content standard which takes the place of our former known Recycled Content program. With this standard we have also updated our content definitions allowed under the standard.
