The Home Depot Eco Options
Learn More
The Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, expanded its long-term commitment to the environment and sustainability with the launch of its Eco Options program in the United States. Eco Options is a classification that allows customers to easily identify products that have less of an impact on the environment and empowers them to help make a difference in their own homes. Eco Options products fall into one of five categories: clean air, water conservation, energy efficient, healthy home and responsible forest management.

SCS has been working with The Home Depot for more than a decade to evaluate environmental claims appearing on consumer products. Now, in conjunction with the Eco Options program, SCS has been asked to conduct independent evaluations of products to determine whether these products meet the environmental performance criteria needed to qualify for participation in the program.

Vendor Participation

In order for vendors to determine whether their products qualify for inclusion in the Eco Options program, vendors are first asked to complete The Home Depot Vendor Questionnaire. This questionnaire is independently reviewed by SCS.

*This fee covers technical review of the submitted material. In cases where additional research or consulting is necessary to determine whether a product can be recommended for Eco Options, SCS charges on a time and materials basis if the vendor chooses to continue the review.
