Responsible Biofuel Certification

Responsible biofuel certification helps growers and producers assure buyers and regulators that their products adhere to strict sustainability requirements. SCS will offer third-party certification to the only two biofuel standards that meet the ISEAL Codes of Good Practice, which guide credible sustainability standards development with the broadest stakeholder engagement.

  • Roundtable for Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) - SCS is now completing the process of being accredited to the RSB, the international gold standard for all types of biomass and biofuels. Inquiries for RSB preliminary assessments are now being accepted.
  • Bonsucro (Better Sugar Cane Initiative) - SCS currently offers Bonsucro certification, which is specifically designed for the sugarcane industry. Bonsucro ensures that sugarcane growers and processors meet legal, labor, environmental and efficiency criteria for the sustainable production of sugarcane and its derivatives such as ethanol and bioplastics.

Certification to the RSB and Bonsucro standards will qualify biofuels under the targets set by the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED).

SCS is providing these services through our network of offices and auditors in the Americas, Australia, China, India and South East Asia.
