Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air quality is an important issue because most people spend as much as 90% of their time indoors, either at home, work, or school. Poor indoor air quality can be caused by a number of factors, including inadequate ventilation, poor cleaning, and excessive emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
SCS offers three indoor air quality certification programs as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the environmental performance of building products: Indoor Advantage™, Indoor Advantage Gold™ and FloorScore®. The program applies to any product generally used within an enclosed indoor environment; specifically within a commercial office or classroom space; such as furniture systems, seating and components, hard surface flooring, paint, wall coverings, casework, and insulation.
