Flavor Services for Retailers and Distributors
Consumers are increasingly in search of “garden fresh” flavor and the SCS Flavor Rich program offers retailers another opportunity to deliver. The goal of the SCS Flavor Rich certification program is to build consumer confidence in the flavor of fresh produce, thereby generating both produce sales and the health benefits associated with a well-balanced diet that includes sufficient servings of fruits and vegetables. Retailers utilize the program to:
- Refine flavor procurement specifications for selected produce.
- Support buyers and QC Inspectors through sensory analysis training calibrated with Consumer Acceptability results.
- Train warehouse and store personnel in handling practices that protect flavor attributes.
- Conduct market basket surveys that provide inter-label comparisons, as well comparisons with other grocery stores/chains.
