USDA Organic Certification

SCS's NutriClean division has been certifying organic food claims since 1986. In April 2002, the U.S. Department of Agriculture officially accredited NutriClean, as an organic certifier under the new National Organic Program (NOP).

The NOP establishes standards for the production and handling of organic products. These standards define accepted production and handling practices, provide a National List of substances approved or prohibited from use in the production and handling of organic products, and describe record-keeping requirements. In addition, the NOP establishes guidelines and requirements for the marketing and labeling of certified organic products.
