Mexico Lobster Fisheries
In December 2001, the SCS assessment team met to discuss the evaluation of Mexico/Baja California Lobster and the Mexico/Banco Chinchorro Lobster fisheries. Following the meeting, and subsequent re-evaluation and interpretation of the available information, the team concluded that there were key factors related to the availability of information on the fisheries that prevented completion of these assessments.
Accordingly, the assessment team temporarily halted the assessment process until adequate information could be obtained to facilitate a thorough evaluation of the fisheries against the MSC Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fishing.
