Safe Quality Food- SQF

Providing food safety auditing services since 1990, SCS has been conducting SQF certification audits for some of the top names in the business. SCS is a preferred SQF auditor for Pioneer Growers, AG Warehouse, and suppliers to Mastronardi Produce.

Designed as a food safety program, SQF certification also ensures product quality. For that reason, SQF is the only certification program endorsed by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) for primary production as well as manufacturing, food storage and distribution and agents/brokers.

SCS is an accredited, SQF-approved auditor and certifier to:

  • SQF 1000 for primary producers and growers
  • SQF 2000 for the manufacturing, processing and distribution sectors

Both SQF codes are based on the HACCP method and principles, and both levels provide a risk management system with reduced paperwork and audit burdens. SQF 1000 is designed as a certification for products entering into an SQF certified business.

Levels of SQF Certification

There are three levels of SQF Certification. At all levels, suppliers are required to meet buyer product specifications and the regulatory requirements of the country in which they operate and the countries to which they export products. Please contact us to learn more about the level of certification you need.

  • Level 1: Food Safety Fundamentals: Prerequisite Program
This level is appropriate for low risk products.
  • Level 2: Certified HACCP Food Safety Plans
This is the minimum level for suppliers of high risk products.
  • Level 3: Comprehensive Quality Management Systems Development
After achieving Level 3, SQF-certified suppliers may be authorized to use the SQF 1000 or 2000 Certification Trade Mark. Level 1 and Level 2 certification are prerequisites to a Level 3 SQF certificate.

SCS is proud to be a leading certifier in the SQF standard and works closely with our clients to ensure that the standard meets their requirements for development. As an independent third party, you can count on SCS to provide a quality auditing experience designed to add value to your company’s food safety system and to help you grow.
