Sustainable Seafood Certification
SCS certifies fisheries, aquaculture operations, and seafood suppliers that conform to the international sustainability standards of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), the world’s leading certification and ecolabeling programs for sustainable seafood.
Fisheries Certification
Any wild-capture freshwater and marine fishery — regardless of size, scale, ecology geography or technology — can seek certification to the MSC standards. Learn more about Sustainable Fishery Certification.
Aquaculture Certification
SCS intends to offer certification to the Aquaculture Stewardship Council's (ASC) Standard once accreditation is achieved. The ASC will be the world's leading certification and labeling program for responsibly farmed seafood. Learn more about Sustainable Aquaculture Certification.
Chain of Custody Certifications
Marine Stewardship Council
The MSC Chain of Custody Certification allows distributors, vendors and restaurants to advertise that their products are certifiably sourced from fisheries that adhere to the strongest sustainability standard in the world.Aquaculture Stewardship Council
The Aquaculture Chain of Custody Certification will allow smallholders, processors, retailers and foodservice companies to prove that their products are sourced from responsible aquaculture practices. SCS plans to offer this certification upon the approval of the ASC standard by mid 2011.

Why Scientific Certification Systems?
SCS has conducted dozens of MSC pre- and full assessments worldwide covering more than 400 fisheries including Dungeness crab fisheries in Oregon and California, British Columbia salmon fisheries and Alaska salmon fisheries.
SCS has the experience to successfully conduct complex and simple assessments alike. We’ve assessed some of the largest commercial fisheries like the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands and Gulf of Alaska fisheries and some of the smaller community-based fisheries like South Australia’s Lakes and Coorong fishery and Mexico’s spiny lobster fishery.
