With Sustainable Carpet, manufacturers have a science-based methodology with which to document their leadership in environmental improvement, social responsibility and product performance. Product users now have a brand that facilitates identification and selection of products that were manufactured in a sustainable manner.
The carpet and rug industry represents the first category of building products to undergo the Sustainable Carpet certification process. The assessment criteria are stipulated in "NSF-140, Sustainable Carpet Assessment Standard" and "California Gold Sustainable Carpet Standard, California Department of General Services."
