3-part Webinar Series on IAQ Scheduled for February, March, and May.

SCS is presenting a series of 3 monthly webinars on indoor air quality in Spring 2008.  The one-hour courses, which will provide AIA Continuing Education Units, are scheduled to take place at 2 PM EST on February 26, March 26, and May 28.  Click here for more information, including how to register.

SCS recently published SCS-EC10.2-2007 Indoor Air Quality Performance, the new version of our indoor air quality performance standard.  This standard is used to certify products under the SCS Indoor Advantage™, SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold, and FloorScore™ certification programs. Click here to see the announcement, which was issued in late May 2007.

Indoor air quality is an important issue because most people spend as much as 90% of their time indoors, either at home, work, or school.  Poor indoor air quality can be caused by a number of factors, including inadequate ventilation, poor cleaning, and excessive emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

SCS offers four indoor air quality certification programs as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the environmental performance of building products: Indoor Advantage, Indoor Advantage Gold, FloorScore, and No Added Formaldehyde.  The program applies to any product generally used within an enclosed indoor environment, such as furniture systems, seating, and components, hard surface flooring, paint, wall coverings, casework, and insulation.
