C.A.F.E. Practices Feedback

On the 26th of February, 2004 , Starbucks Coffee Company hosted a stakeholders' feedback session in Seattle, Washington to gather public feedback on the PSP.  Twenty-six stakeholders attended the meeting, including representatives from NGOs, academic institutions, government, and the coffee industry.  Starbucks CEO Orin Smith welcomed the stakeholders by declaring Starbucks commitment to environmentally, socially and economically responsible coffee sourcing, "Many people doubt the sincerity of an initiative like the PSP coming from corporate America, but I want to assure you that Starbucks is committed to these issues and that this is one of the highest priorities in the company."   Executives from Starbucks and Scientific Certification Systems spent the day listening and responding to constructive feedback on concerns about the program and ways to improve it.  A summary and agenda of the Stakeholders' Feedback Session and the full text of Orin Smith's comments can be downloaded below.
