GHG Carbon Offset Programs
The California Climate Action Registry (CCAR)
The California Climate Action Registry is a private non-profit originally formed by the State of California. It oversees voluntary project-based emission reductions to ensure quality and integrity in the voluntary offset market including forestry, livestock and landfill reporting and certification.
The Climate Action Reserve (CAR)
The Climate Action Reserve is the successor organization to the California Climate Action Registry. The Reserve has now filled the role of being the parent organization working to ensure environmental benefit, integrity and progressive movement in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions and policies, and the California Climate Action Registry is a program under its umbrella.
The Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB)
The Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance (CCBA) has developed voluntary standards to help design and identify land management projects that simultaneously minimize climate change, support sustainable development and conserve biodiversity.
The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX)
The Chicago Climate Exchange is North America's only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide.
The Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS)
The Voluntary Carbon Standard offsets must be real, additional, measurable, permanent, independently verified and unique (not used more than once to offset emissions). The Standard was initiated by The Climate Group, the International Emissions Trading Association and the World Economic Forum in late 2005.

The Climate Registry (TCR)
The Climate Registry is a nonprofit collaboration among North American states, provinces, territories and Native Sovereign Nations that sets consistent and transparent standards to calculate, verify and publicly report greenhouse gas emissions into a single registry.
